Request for Information on Artificial Intelligence Action Plan

The Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) and the Networking and Information Technology Research and Development (NITRD) National Coordination Office (NCO) have issued a Request for Information (RFI) seeking input on the development of a new Artificial Intelligence (AI) Action Plan. This initiative stems from Executive Order 14179, signed by President Trump on January 23, 2025, which aims to sustain and enhance America’s AI dominance.

1. Objective: The AI Action Plan will define priority policy actions to promote U.S. AI leadership while reducing barriers to private sector innovation.
2. Topics of Interest: The RFI seeks input on various AI-related areas, including: 
   • Hardware and chips
   • Data centers
   • Energy consumption and efficiency
   • Model development
   • Open source development
   • Application and use
   • Explainability and assurance
   • Cybersecurity
   • Data privacy and security
   • Regulation and governance
   • Technical and safety standards
   • National security and defense
   • Research and development
   • Education and workforce
   • Innovation and competition
   • Intellectual property
   • Procurement
   • International collaboration
   • Export controls 
3. Deadline: Submissions are due by 11:59 p.m. (ET) on March 15, 2025. 
4. Submission Methods: Comments can be submitted via email to ostp-ai-rfi@nitrd.gov or by mail. 
5. Format Requirements:
   • Maximum 15 pages
   • 12 point or larger font
   • Page numbers required
   • Include submitter’s name or organization
   • Include specified approval statement
