The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) has reminded Telecommunications Service Providers (TSPs) offering voice communication services that annual STIR/SHAKEN status reports are due by May 31, 2026.
Under Decision 2025-343, the CRTC modified its existing semi-annual reporting regime effective December 16, 2025. TSPs that had already filed four semi-annual reports as of that date are no longer subject to ongoing reporting obligations. However, TSPs that have obtained a STIR/SHAKEN token from the Canadian Secure Token Governance Authority (CST-GA) and had not yet filed four semi-annual reports as of December 16, 2025, are required to submit two annual reports going forward.
The first annual report covers the period from April 1, 2025 to March 31, 2026, and must be filed with the Commission by May 31, 2026. Reports should address the information set out in the appendix to Decision 2025-343, including data on call authentication and verification rates, attestation levels, IP interconnections, and progress in STIR/SHAKEN implementation. The CRTC has made a template available for this purpose. Reports must be submitted in Word or PDF format by following the instructions at https://crtc.gc.ca/eng/info_sht/g100.htm.
As a reminder, because status reports are published online by the CRTC once filed, TSPs should consider whether to submit both confidential and abridged public versions.
