Revised Deadlines for CRTC’s Notice of Consultation on Robocall Traceback Process
On March 4, 2024, the Canadian Radio-Television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) announced a revision to the deadline for filing comments in response to the CRTC’s Notice of Consultation (NOC) on the proposed mandatory implementation of the call traceback process for all telecommunications service providers (TSPs) offering voice services in Canada.
Revised Deadlines:
- Deadline for filing comments: April 2, 2024
- Deadline for submission of replies: April 16, 2024
This extension accommodates the coinciding of the intervention deadline with the Good Friday holiday, ensuring ample time for your participation.
As delineated in our previous client advisory, the Canadian Radio-Television and Telecommunications Commission (“CRTC” or “Commission”) released a Notice of Consultation (“NOC”), inviting public comments on its proposal to require all telecommunications service providers (“TSPs”) offering voice telecommunications services in Canada to participate in its call traceback process. Participation in the traceback process in Canada is currently optional, and the CRTC is concerned that not enough voice service providers are participating voluntarily.
